Terrific Tech, Marvelous maths, Lovley Literacy, and Fun friday tasks!

Hi readers!

This week I have been doing a lot of stuff, and it is that time when I share with you some of the stuff I have done this week! This includes my maths, literacy, my friend tasks, and my tech tasks!

I am going to start off with my literacy. For this activity, we were asked a question that was "if you needed and evil animal to help you what creature would it be?" It could have been anything, lots of people made animals up, we had to make our character, you could draw it or dress up family members, pet, etc..

Here is what I made!

That is my dog,  you can read the description to see what it is.
This activity was based on the wizard of oz because the wicked witches had winged monkeys to help her capture Dorothy.

Next is my maths.
For maths, we have been learning about the map. We learned how to find the coordinates of any place on the map. For the activity, I am going to show we were asked to pick we thought 7 places/things that we found interesting/cool or fun in New Zealand and find the coordinates and write a small description about the place. Here is mine

These were the places I chose, the coordinates, a small description, and a picture

Next is my Friday activity I chose to make a drawing of a house on the back of any animal. I chose to make mine on the back of a turtle because their backs are quite flat and the move slowly so the house doesn't fall off.

Here is a picture of it

Now because it is on the back of a turtle it is falling over a bit. I and my family would live in this house with me and we would travel the world on the back of a turtle, which can swim with the house on it's back.

Finally, my tech activity.
I choose to make a set of jewelry with stuff I could find around the home. For the necklace, I used string and wooden pegs. Here is what it looks like.

For the ring and bracelet, I used the same string a twisted it round and pined it together as I wanted to keep a theme as it was a set and the peg were too big for the ring and bracelet.

This is what it looks like!

What do you think? Are you excited to go back to school/work? If you have to build a house on the back of an animal what animal would you choose? Have you had any takeaways yet?

Until next time!

Lots of Literacy, Maths, Tech, and Tasks!

Hi readers!

I have been doing a lot this week so I am going to show some of the things I have done, this includes some maths and literacy work, along with my Friday task and tech task!

For my maths work this week I decided to show my favourite task I did. Although a did take a long time it was fun.  I put all my work into a slide. Here it is!

I'm sorry if it is hard to see. We had to make and design our own room, but before we could do any of that we had to find the surface area of each wall in our room, minus the doors and windows from the wall.

For literacy, every day we learn about a new theme about the book wizard of oz. We are then asked three questions about the theme and we answer it on a slide. I chose to share with you the slide I did on the theme disappointment.

Here are the questions

Here were my answers

Next is my tech task. I chose to make a stained glass window with paper. My design was the ocean with a sunset in the background. I used paper, vivid, and crayons. Sadly I didn't have any linseed oil, so I could not get the seethrough effect of the paper.

Here it is

Lastly my Friday task. I decided to design my own cake. My theme was red and white. It has two different flavors. Red velvet and vanilla. I personally don't like a lot of icing on the cake so I didn't put very much icing on it.

Here it is

What do you think? What have you done this week? What is your favourite flavour cake?

Until next time!

Brilliant Board Game

Hi readers!

Even though we are still at home we still have to do tech! You get given many different options for you to make during the day. Today I chose to make a board game! Although it took a very long time I am happy with how it turned out. I am planning to play with my family tonight!

Here is what it looks like!

The aim of the game, like many other games, is to reach the end. But you may face some challenges. Roll the dice and the number you get is how many squares you move your piece forward, but if you land on the blue square or in the green lake you have to do a challenge. To do so you must pick up a white card, which you can see on the right. The challenges can be good or bad. Some of the bad cards are to eat hot sauce, move back ten spaces, etc.. Some of the good cards are to go to the nearest ladder, go forward ten spaces, etc. If you land on a space with a ladder, then quite similar to snakes and ladders, you can go up the ladder to get ahead of the other players.

I used paint for painting the cardboard and the 3d trees. I used paper and tape to make the 3d trees and the dice and drew the challenges onto paper slips with felt. I used the player pieces from a different game for player pieces on my game. My game does not have a name yet.

What is your favourite game? If you had to make a game what would it be about? Where would it be set?

Until next time!

Amazing Anzac Day!

Hi readers!

Anzac day is coming up and I'm very excited! I have great grandparents who went to war, we have medals and postcards from them, a whole book full!

Today I made a canva artwork about the war. It's three panels, before the war, during the war, and after the war.

Here it is

The first panel is before the war. It shows a peaceful world, clear skies, and everything normal

The second panel is during the war, smoke in the sky, warplanes, and red and orange clouds from bombs and explosions.

The third and final panel is after the war. It is raining, to show sadness and crying, a black balloon flying up to the sky with a medal on the end of the string, to show the bravery of all the men who fought in the war.

What do you think? Do you have any family members who fought in the war?

Until next time!

Lions Courage?

Hi Readers!

Today in literacy we were learning about the lion from the wizard of oz who longs for courage, even though he is the mighty king of the forest he feels he has no courage.

Today we were told to put on a slide what we thought courage was and to give an example as to what courage was.

Here it is

There it is!

What does courage mean to you? Have you read the Wizard of Oz?

Until next time!

Wonderful Western Witch

Hi readers!

In literacy, we have continued with our theme of the wonderful Wizard of Oz! As we all know the antagonist in the book is the wicked witch of the west. A very classic witch may I add.

We were tasked to make our own wicked witch. Design it, give it a name, and give it a backstory as to how it became evil. Some people chose to draw the witch on paper, while others chose to do it digitally. I chose to do it digitally.

Here it is

What do you think? What would your witch look like if you made one?

Until next time.

The Wizard of Oz!

Hi readers!

The holiday is over which means we are back to doing school work and blogging. How was your holiday, what did you do to keep yourself entertained?

Today I was given the task to describe on a slide what I thought Oz looked like (Keep in mind I have not read the books, nor watched the movies that were based on it.) So I wrote down a semi-detailed description as to what I thought Oz may have looked like.

Here it is!

There it is!

How have you been coping in quarantine? What have you been doing to keep yourself entertained (I desperately need ideas)

Until next time
