Brilliant Board Game

Hi readers!

Even though we are still at home we still have to do tech! You get given many different options for you to make during the day. Today I chose to make a board game! Although it took a very long time I am happy with how it turned out. I am planning to play with my family tonight!

Here is what it looks like!

The aim of the game, like many other games, is to reach the end. But you may face some challenges. Roll the dice and the number you get is how many squares you move your piece forward, but if you land on the blue square or in the green lake you have to do a challenge. To do so you must pick up a white card, which you can see on the right. The challenges can be good or bad. Some of the bad cards are to eat hot sauce, move back ten spaces, etc.. Some of the good cards are to go to the nearest ladder, go forward ten spaces, etc. If you land on a space with a ladder, then quite similar to snakes and ladders, you can go up the ladder to get ahead of the other players.

I used paint for painting the cardboard and the 3d trees. I used paper and tape to make the 3d trees and the dice and drew the challenges onto paper slips with felt. I used the player pieces from a different game for player pieces on my game. My game does not have a name yet.

What is your favourite game? If you had to make a game what would it be about? Where would it be set?

Until next time!

  1. Wow Riley! I really like your imagination of making such a complex game, no wonder it took a while! My favourite part of it is the 3d trees, they look quite real the way you scrunched up the paper. I also really like your idea of the good cards and bad cards. I wouldn't want to get the eat hot sauce one! Has anyone from your family got the eat hot sauce one yet, if so who did! Overall your board game is great I would love to try it out after lockdown! Sophie :D

  2. Amazing game Riley! I can tell you put so much time and effort into it, it sounds like a lot of fun! Well done. How did it going playing with your family last night? Did anyone have to eat hot sauce?? I love that you have made it so colourful and that you added 3D trees. It looks like you even made your own dice! So cool. Keep up the awesome work and enjoy your weekend. Caitlin :)

  3. Hey Riley, this is a great looking board game. What a great idea for one of the challenges...eat hot sauce! LOL. I like the way you have got some 3D things on it too. I played the board game Jumanji this christmas, it was quite confusing but quite fun. have you seen the film Jumanji?
