Cool coding, reading and tessellation!

Hey readers!

The 3rd day of online school! I was planning on doing some outdoor activities, like a walk. But the weather was not on my side today. So outdoor activities can be saved for another day.

Because of the weather, my activities were once again inside. (I should have done them yesterday). I decided to do: More coding, Reading, and some tessellation art.

I started my morning with some coding. I used a website called Code.org. It was very similar to other coding apps in the sense that it used the same commands, issues, etc... But this time it was themed around Minecraft.

I managed to finish all the levels

I apologize for the blurry image but as you can kinda see I finished all the levels!

Next, I did some tessellation. I remember doing some kind of tessellation in year 4 but I really couldn't remember that much. So after watching the video, I decided to give it a go on google drawings as I knew they had some really good shapes I could use. I ended up making three different designs

I think if I were to do it again I would add color, it might make it more interesting

Finally, I decided I would do some reading. I do reading often so I decided it could use it as one of my activities, so I did. I read for about thirty minutes. The book I am reading is called "Once upon a dream." from a series called "twisted tales" which is your classic fairy tales but it's the aftermath of the villain winning.

What have you been doing during lockdown? Is there anything you missing because of lockdown? I missing out on a trip do Bali :{

Until next time.

Thursday 26th March Sudoku, Maths games and a Puzzle

Hi readers!

The second day of online school!

The activities I choose today were Sudoku, Maths games, and a puzzle  (I was in a mood for maths today)

I started off with sudoku. I spent most of my morning trying to figure it out. But with my luck. I lost it all. You see I finished it and because of that a little sign came up to say " you finished, start a new game?" I did not want to start a new game, I wanted to screenshot it. So I pressed a little x in the corner of the sign and boom. Gone. So tonight I am going to attempt another sudoku but I have already done a sudoku today, trust me.

So after that dilemma, I decided it was time for a puzzle.

This was the picture I was trying to complete

And after a very long time, I
did it!

It took me and Hour and 44 minutes. I must say I am pretty proud. I also learned I am terrible at puzzles!

Finally, I did some maths games! They were fun and I managed to take a screenshot of one of the games is was playing!

Here it is!

I know it doesn't look like maths but it was and I learned a lot from this game.

Until next time

Wednesday 25th March, Code Combat, Drawing & Kahoot

Hi Readers!

School is officially online, and with that means heaps of activities to do and many, many blog posts!
Today I have done three activities. Code combat, drawing characters and a family kahoot.

Code combat a coding game that you play with many levels. You need to type in code and debug issues that you make. It is very fun. Sadly, I made a mistake by not signing into an account so lost most of my progress but managed to take a screen shot before continuing.

I also created a series of drawings. I made baby Yoda, a baby and a rat. (don't ask why i made them)  using a website called kidshub, that givesyou step by step instructions which are really easy to follow.

Here are the drawings

Finally, I did two family kahoots. with my Mum, dad and sister. The first kahoot what about baby animals in which Holly (my sister) came first, my mum in second, leaving my dad in last. The second round was my mum and my dad. We did a kahoot that was "which countries flag is this" My mum came first and my dad came second/last.

Mean, Median & Mode

Hi readers!

We have been learning about mean, median and mode! To show what we have learnt we used scratch.

Scratch is a coding programme that teaches a lot of computational things like inputs, outputs, sequence, selection, iteration and storage. There is some problem solving and debugging to do as well!

This was very fun to make all though there was lots of debugging to do!

Here is mine

That's what it looks like. What do you think

Until next time.

Mystery Writing

Hi readers!

For literacy I have be writing a mystery story. Mystery stories need plot twists, problems, antagonist, protagonists etc. We also used IPARCs to help

IPARC mean the introduction, problem, action, resolution and conclusion.

Here is my story.

There it is. It didn't take to long but it had to be finished by a certain time. What do you think?

Until next time

Counting In Samoan!

Hi Readers.
In Toroa we have been learning Samoan. We have learnt lots of things about the Samoan culture, language, etc. We have learnt how to count to 10 and it is quite easy because it is very similar to Maori, making it easy to remember. I made a video on how to count to ten in Samoan on biteable.

Here it is

Samoan Numbers on Biteable.

What do think? It is pretty similar Maori right?

My Sestina | Nz Writing

Hi readers

In literacy we made a poem called a sestina. To make a sestina you need six lines. Each line needs to have exactly six words. The poem needs to be about a journey.

Here is what the different lines need to be about

First line- about something i saw
Second, line-something i remember
Third line- Person who was with me
Four line-something imagined that didn’t happen
Fifth line- the reason for my journey
Sixth line- Anything

Here is my sestina

A big long shark swimming ferociously
It ate up fish in seconds
My dog, Millie, swimming with me
She nearly died, but she didn’t
But I wanted to see fish
And then a shark ate me

Until next time
