Fun Family Tree

Hi Readers

For inquiry we have been working on our family back round. We had to make a family tree with the flags of the country the family members came from. This was very difficult because it was very small and we had a lot to put on.

Here is what mine looks like

This goes all the way back to my great grandparents. Some of my great grandparents names are unknown to me and that is why I did not put them down.
What do you think? Do you know much about your back round?

Until next time

Pretty Police Poster

Hi Readers

We have been learning about different charity's.  Charity's like kids line, Police 105, Spca, Salvation Army etc.. We picked a charity and was told to make a poster about it. I choose the charity Police 105.

Here is the poster I created:

What do you think? We had to include multiple things like their contact number, what they do/ offer etc...

What charity did would you choose.

Cool Characters

Hi readers!

In literacy we have been working on creating narratives. We were challenged to make a character and make a detailed character description of the character you had created. Here is mine

We got to share the characters with the class and see what others had created. It was very fun and I enjoyed it a lot

Until next time

10 ways to have a conversation

Hi readers!

For inquiry we have been working on relationships. The teacher showed us a video of a lady called Celeste Headlee teaching us 10 ways to have abetter conversation. We were then given a task to create an animation of 10 ways to have a better conversation using the points Celeste had given us.

Here is what Olivia, Sophie and I made.

It took us about a week and was very fun to make. This was my first animation on slides as well. What do you think?

Brilliant Bar Graphs

Kia Ora Readers

In maths we have been working on bar graphs and although it sounds simple there are a lot of things that we forget to do.

My first attempt was a bit rough.
As you can see it wasn't very clear and didn't show the data so I was given a checklist

  • Scale starts at 0 and goes up in equal amounts
  • Gaps between the bars
  • Labeled axis- x and y
  • Detailed title to tell us what the graph is about
  • Frequency on the lines, not in the squares
  • Use a ruler
So i tried again using the checklist and...

It looked so much better! You could clearly read the data and looked so much neater!

So what have you been learning maths?

Until next time

Pretty Portrait

Kia ora readers

Welcome back from the summer holidays. I really enjoyed my holiday. How about you?

For the past two weeks we have been working on portraits. These portraits have been inspired by the artist Romero Britto. His style involves very bright and strong colours, so in Toroa we took our own take on it.

Here is mine!

As you can see I love music. I also am from New Zealand, I displayed that with a kiwi. I also love dogs! In my spare time I enjoy painting. I also love to play netball. My favourite food is burritos and some of my family come from Scotland which is why I included a Scottish flag.
